Everything users may need to know about installing, cutting, welding, maintenance, and after-sales support for the Senfeng Tools D Series can be found here.
Whether you have just unboxed a Senfeng Tools D Series machine or are comparing the D300 and D600 before purchasing, you are likely to encounter questions during use. This FAQ covers the questions customers ask most often—from first startup to welding parameter adjustment—and provides direct, practical solutions and video tutorial links to help you understand exactly what to do at each step.
1. Before You Start
What power supply does the D Series require?
The D Series welding module uses AC 220V ±10% (50/60Hz), while the CNC module supports 110V or 220V.
The welding module can draw up to 30A at full load, so the wall outlet should be rated for ≥30A. The CNC module draws up to 10A and requires an outlet rated for ≥10A.
If your workplace only has 110V power, the CNC module can be used with the blue-light module. However, the fiber-laser-related functions require a 220V circuit.
Do cutting and welding require assist gas?
Yes.
· For CNC cutting:
· Nitrogen: suitable for non-ferrous metals and stainless steel and can provide cleaner cutting edges.
· Oxygen: suitable for carbon steel and can increase cutting speed on thicker plates.
· For handheld laser welding:
· Argon or Nitrogen: used as shielding gas to protect the molten pool and prevent oxidation.
Gas pressure and flow rate affect welding quality. We recommend starting with the parameters in the product manual and then adjusting them according to the actual welding result.
What operating environment does the machine require?
Operating temperature: -10°C to 40°C.
Place the machine in a dry, well-ventilated environment. The D Series uses air cooling and does not require an additional water chiller, but maintaining good airflow around the machine helps extend the service life of internal components.
Avoid using the machine in dusty or excessively humid environments, as these conditions may contaminate the optical path.
What is the maximum worktable load?
|
Model |
Maximum Worktable Load |
|
D300 |
15 kg |
|
D600 |
35 kg |
Do not exceed the load limits above. Overloading may deform the worktable, affect cutting accuracy, and potentially damage the machine.
How do I connect power and gas, and switch between processing modes?
Power connection, gas connection, and switching between processing modes (CNC cutting ↔ handheld welding/cleaning) are explained step by step in the official unboxing video.

2. Machine Installation & First Cut
How do I switch between the fiber laser head and diode laser head?
The D Series features a 30-second quick-change system.
1. Turn off the laser head currently in use.
2. Release the quick connector.
3. Replace the laser head.
4. Reconnect the quick connector.
5. Power on the machine.
Under normal use, the optical path does not need to be recalibrated. The Smart Control Center automatically identifies the connected laser head.
Video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOnke3uXYNk
Can the Ultra Cut cutting head be interchanged with the Combo Pro welding head?
No.
The Ultra Cut laser head does not support welding. Ultra Cut has no welding system or independent welding control interface, so welding cannot be enabled simply by changing the laser head. If you need welding, choose the Combo Pro model.
How does Smart Edge Alignment work?
The intelligent capacitive sensing system automatically detects the material edge and aligns the cutting path with it, eliminating the need to manually locate the edge.
Simply place the sheet on the worktable and let the laser head detect the material edge. The software can then automatically set the processing origin, reducing preparation time before each job.
What is the Coordinate Memory System for?
If a sudden power outage occurs during processing, the D Series locks and saves the current processing coordinates. Once power is restored, the machine can resume from the exact stopping position without scrapping the material or restarting from the beginning of the file. This is especially valuable for long cutting jobs.
What is the accuracy of the D Series?
|
Model |
Repeatability |
Drive System |
Best For |
|
Combo Pro |
±0.05 mm |
Belt drive |
Multi-function cutting + welding + cleaning |
|
Ultra Cut |
±0.01 mm |
Lead screw drive |
High-precision CNC cutting |
The Ultra Cut Series uses a fully enclosed linear module and lead-screw drive for higher positioning accuracy.
If your work requires high-precision processing below ±0.05 mm repeatability—for example, fine jewelry, detailed signage, or tight-tolerance components—choose Ultra Cut.
If you need multiple functions such as handheld welding, cutting, and cleaning, and ±0.05 mm repeatability is sufficient, Combo Pro is a more versatile option.
What file formats does the D Series support?
The CNC system supports: .dxt / .cht / .nc / .txt / .cnc / .g / .plt
How do I convert a vector file to G-code?
A Vector to G-code video tutorial is provided in the “material” reference folder. Follow the tutorial according to the design software you use.
What image formats are supported for scanning/engraving?
Supported image formats: .png / .jpg
What should I pay attention to when using the machine for the first time?
6. Import the machine parameters first. After powering on, before performing any operation, copy the machine software from the included USB drive to your computer, open the software, connect the machine, and import the parameters from the USB drive. We recommend copying all USB files to your computer to avoid losing them.
7. Refocus after changing non-metal sheets. When cutting non-metal materials, refocus the diode (blue-light) laser head every time you change to a different sheet. Different material thicknesses require different focal distances.
8. Recalibrate after replacing a nozzle. Every time the nozzle is replaced, recalibration is required before cutting/welding. Calibration includes optical-path alignment; for cutting, floating-head calibration is also required.
📺 All machine installation tutorials are located in the “reference materials” folder included with the machine.

What are Micro-Joints and why should I use them?
Micro-Joints leave very small, nearly invisible connection points between cut parts and the sheet, keeping the cut parts fixed to the sheet.
This prevents small parts from lifting into the laser path, helping avoid collisions while reducing the time needed to sort and separate parts after cutting. For jobs containing many small parts, enable this function in the control software.
How does Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance protect the machine?
The capacitive-sensing laser head can detect raised obstacles such as warped sheets, parts with connection points, and fixtures. When an obstacle is detected, the laser head automatically lifts to avoid it and then returns to the cutting height. This helps prevent collisions and protects the focusing lens and laser-head components.
Combined with Intelligent Auto-Follow, it can maintain a constant focal distance when a sheet is warped, allowing more stable continuous processing.
How does auto-nesting software save material?
The Control Center includes Auto-nesting, Common-edge cutting, and Scrap-remnant splicing algorithms. These algorithms automatically arrange parts to reduce material waste.
According to Senfeng data, material utilization can increase by 15–30% compared with manual layout. For costly metal materials, this can help reduce material costs more quickly.
Image suggestion: Show a before/after comparison of sheet nesting in the control software, with annotations highlighting the material savings.
What should I do if the blue-light diode laser head hits the sheet when cutting non-metal materials?
This is usually caused by incorrect focusing of the diode laser head. The blue-light laser head must be focused before every use.
Follow the tutorial in the reference materials folder: “D Series Blue Light Focusing Tutorial.” After focusing, the laser head will maintain the correct working distance and avoid collision with the material.
Where can I find recommended parameters for different materials?
The included USB drive contains complete material parameters and process guidance tables. Open the process parameter library to view recommended power, speed, frequency, pulse width, and other settings for different materials.
4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
How should I clean and maintain the protective lens?
The focusing lens and protective lens are important for maintaining beam quality. Check the lenses regularly. If contamination is found, clean them promptly with alcohol and a dedicated lint-free lens cloth.
Do not touch the lens surface with bare hands, as skin oils can damage the lens coating. Galvo/protective lenses are consumables and are not covered by warranty.
⚠️ Important: Do not turn off the galvo while the machine is operating, as this may damage the lens. Do not plug or unplug the power or control cables while the galvo is powered.
ERR-X001: Red error light appears after pressing the cleaning button
